August: Mount Whitney... conquered!

The before picture of the week long hike to Mt. Whitney.

Yeah baby!  We are happy and on a hike.  Our bodies haven't started to ache yet!

First night of camping while waiting for the other hikers to get there.  Gorgeous!

The boy scouts are here.  One didn't even start the trek because of a stomach flu that he so lovingly passed to one of the healthy boys on the way up to the start of the hike.  Eric kept them going through the boy's stomach flu and the others altitude sickness.  Luckily he didn't get sick with either.

Last picture with his prescription glasses.  Somewhere out there a bear is wearing stylish Oakley glasses and can see just that much better.

On a slab of ice.

One of the boys taught everyone how to fly fish and Eric caught a fish!

Then he ate the fish raw and flopping like a real mountain man.

He is modeling the forest.  And here is a tree!

Hot springs hot tub!

It's a mountain mer-man!

Natures bridge.

Beautiful sunset.  Seems like this picture needs a quotation on it.  Like... "you are never alone when you are alone... believe!"  or  "the sunset to your soul."

They made it to the top of Mt. Whitney and they are still smiling!

A sign at the top of the mountain.

No trees grow up that high but there are still beautiful flowers all around.

The shelter.

He's on top of the world... or at least the highest point in the contiguous United States.

A pass through the rocks.

There are little chain guards to help you from falling down this steep cliff.

The after picture!  They made it in one piece.

His bag's weight.

A hearty breakfast after the week long of freeze dried food and fish.  Yes that is one giant pancake under the first plate.
Eric is so happy to have a soda!  I just love how the guy in the back jumps in the picture!
